Sharing and processing confidential personal data to limit the spread of Covid-19
The Department of Health and Social Care has issued guidance under Regulation 3(4) of the Health Service (Control of Patient Information) Regulations 2002 to require all health organisations and professionals to process confidential information for the purpose of locating, contacting and monitoring patients with or at risk of contracting Covid-19. I am only required to process confidential information used solely for the purposes of Covid-19 tracking and this will be in place until the 20th September at which time it will be up for review.
This means if I was contacted by NHS Track and Trace program, I would be legally obliged to provide your contact details for follow-up if it was deemed you had been exposed.
